OLPS During COVID-19

With remote learning now the norm in Victorian schools, we wanted to ask our students, parents and teachers how they’re finding this new way of learning at OLPS during COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s what they said…

“Transitioning into remote learning for Chloe (grade 2) has been absolutely seamless.  From the regular communication to school families from our principal, to the daily updates/live meetings, online activities and positive feedback from our classroom teacher, we have settled into home-schooling easily and stress-free.  A highlight thus far, was when a couple of the amazingly dedicated classroom teachers put a school community call-out to do a drive-by video of each and every child to piece together a school video to be shared amongst the children, school community and beyond.  What a fabulous initiative it was as it certainly put a smile on Chloe’s face seeing all her school-mates again, all from their front yards, smiling and waving and allowing them all to feel connected again.  Although we are looking forward to resuming learning back onsite again one day soon, OLPS teachers and staff have absolutely gone above and beyond their call of duty for our children and families during this COVID crisis to ensure their learning opportunities do not waiver and their important social aspect of school remains.”

“We wanted to express our thanks to you and the team at school for the clear and calm way you’ve handled the changes at Our Lady’s during the COVID19 crisis.  Our family has felt well supported and the boys are doing well, although they miss you and their friends. Leadership through uncertainty requires excellent communication and I think you’ve done an exemplary job. Strong women leaders in our local community are the role models we want for our kids.”

“I am grateful that the Lord has led us to Our Lady’s. We knew it was the right choice at the start of school, and even more convinced now, as I see how the school has embraced the challenge and thrived on it. Our Lady’s have done so much more than what other schools can offer. It is often the challenging times that test our resilience and shows our true values. Our Lady’s is a true champ. I’m so grateful that our family can be a part of this beautiful school community.”

COVID19 has meant that we are experiencing a very different way of life, and a very different way of learning. But were so thankful to be a part of the OLPS community at this time, the support and encouragement to both parents and the children) can not be faulted.

“I just wanted to write you a quick email to say thank you to you and all of the staff at Our Lady’s for working so hard throughout these very challenging times.
I think all of the teachers, from classroom through to specialists, have done an incredible job in delivering creative and stimulating material that is easy for the children to follow along with at home.”

“I am finding remote learning very positive in many unique ways. But of course there are always negative things to this like not seeing your friends or the lovely staff back at school but in some ways it has forced me to concentrate more and has resulted in me producing much higher quality work.”

“I am missing many things at OLPS and if I were to say them all we would be here for an eternity. But some of the main things that I am missing is seeing my friends and having fun with them. I am also missing the beautiful kind and caring nature of all of the teachers and overall just the whole OLPS community.”
